Korean actress Choi Ji-woo's best beauty looks of all time (2025)

The 44-year-old Korean actress turns a year older next month (June 11), and many long-time fans who’ve followed her career through the years can vouch that she truly looks like she never ages.

Choi Ji-woo was first placed in the spotlight when she starred in the hit Korean drama series Winter Sonata in 2002 together with co-star Bae Yong-joon. Credited as one of the major initiators that brought Korean pop culture its popularity, the show received worldwide recognition, with Choi Ji-woo making a name for herself not just in South Korea, but in Japan and China as well.

Her career continued to take flight in the subsequent years, with shows like Stairway to Heaven (2003), Temptation (2014) and Second 20s (2015) giving her continued TV exposure and a growing fanbase. She even made a cameo appearance as herself in the popular Netflix series Crash Landing On You.

Earlier this month, she took to her fan club website and shared that she was pregnant with a baby girl and was due to give birth soon. While her announcement quickly became a trending topic on social media, we decided to take a trip down memory lane to get some #beautyinspo from the iconic actress. After all, who better to cop some timeless makeup looks from than Choi Ji-woo herself?

Puppy liner

Made popular in 2015, this K-beauty liner trend is the complete opposite of the feline-inspired cat eye flick. It’s meant to make eyes look more rounded, giving them an effortlessly innocent vibe that looks youthful yet put together at once.

To recreate this puppy liner trend, line your lash line like you usually do, but instead of flicking your liner upwards at the outer corner of your eye, angle it downwards for a more defined and rounded eye-look. Top it off with your favourite volumising mascara and you should be good to go.

Pink-toned highlighter

Add some colour and shimmer to your complexion by picking up a pink-toned illuminating highlighter that promises to instantly amp up any makeup look.

The K-beauty way of applying highlighter is to start from the center of your cheeks (closer to your nose) instead of just focusing on your cheekbones. Then, use a fluffy brush to work your way upwards towards your temples for afull glow-up effect.

Straight brows

If you haven’t been catching up on the K-beauty brow trends that’s been all the rave this year, we’ll sum it up for you here. While we love light, gradient brows, the ‘it’ brow trend is undoubtedly the straight brow.

This arch-free brow look is meant to be shorter, bolder and more structured, which makes you look effortlessly put together. For this, use a tweezer and pluck out any stray brow hairs that gather at your arch, and fill in your brows with a brow pencil using thin, hair-like strokes.

Light smoky eyes

Choi Ji-woo never quite dons heavy eye makeup. And even when she does rock a smoky eye, she makes do with lighter mauve shades that gives her lids dimension without overpowering the rest of her makeup.

To cop this classic eyeshadow look of hers, try grabbing a pink/mauve eyeshadow and, using a fluffy brush, blend the pigment onto your lids and outwards towards your crease. Finish the look with a couple of mascara coats and there, you’ll have a fuss-free eye look ready in minutes.

Ultra-glossy lips

If you’re always on-the-go and can’t decide on an everyday lipstick shade, why not just opt for a clear gloss? Its fuss-free, easy and makes your lips look plumper than they actually are.

Glosses are also super hydrating, making it the perfect option for those who struggle with chapped lips. And if you’ve got pale lips, opt for a pink gloss instead for a bit of colour and a whole lot of the shine.

Fierce cat eye

We started off this list with the unique innocent-looking puppy liner, but if you’re not quite ready to dip your toes into this K-beauty trend yet, there’s also the classic cat eye option to try. We recommend picking up an ultra-thin ink or gel liner that’s waterproof, which won’t smudge as easily as a pencil liner otherwise would.

If you’re a liner novice, try using the liner to draw dots along your lash line, connecting each dot as you go along, making it easier to achieve a clean liner look. And if you make a mistake, just grab a cotton bud and your trusty micellar water to remove any jagged edges.
